1. The internet guy was scheduled to show up at our door between 8am and 1pm today. He arrived at 8:05. Miracle! We have internet!
2. I woke before 6 today because there was an alarm going off, except that it wasn't the sound of an alarm, it was a tweet tweet tweeting bird outside our window.
3. Tap water is deliciously cold.
4. I can walk from the Tube station to the grocery store on the way home from work to pick up things for dinner. We have one cute little pot, so I'm making lots of easy dishes. At night, we sit in our only two chairs by the light of our only small lamp with a blanket across our laps and watch movies on the laptop. It's all very cozy.
5. My morning running route is a mix of gravel hard-pack trail and cement path. There is a layer of mist in the early hour, and the grass is coated in white frost. Dogs bound off-leash all over the place. The hills are a noticeable change, and I'm coming back from these morning jogs with pink cheeks.
6. The microwave in our kitchen is very British, with preset options for reheating curry and jacket potatoes. We didn't have to buy a kettle because there was already one here ready for us.
7. There's a high school right behind our place, and the uniformed kids chat and call out to each other as they gather before class in the morning.
8. It has rained. It has hailed. It has beamed down with sunshine.
9. There are daffodils everywhere.

10. Birds I see: a small brownish-grey bird with an orange patch under its chin; magpies; green parakeets in the Heath (really!).
11. Wishlist: I hope to see a fox, apparently they doddle around the village and the Heath. I also hope to go for a swim in the Ladies Pond once the weather is nicer.

Upcoming to-do list: various move-in chores; registering my Oyster card; continuing to monitor the path of Judith, who is currently near Yemen in the Arabian Sea (Somali pirates better keep away from our stuff!).
