Here we are, January 1, 2009, and as I look out the window at the snowy trees up Cypress, it's nice to take some time to reflect on the year 2008 that has sped by.
January
I started 2008 on the West Coast, and then flew back to NYC where I plunged back into work and fun times with friends.

February
Cold February was spent on roadtrips with friends (Boston) and family (my Mom and I in Cold Spring).

March
Up and down the East Coast corridor, with trips to Delaware and Connecticut. Mom and Jane came to visit, and we puttered around Mystic.

April
The month began with an epic ski trip out to Park City, Utah, where we had four days of perfect powder. Back in NYC, spring was arriving and blossoming.

May
Picking up the pace in May, the month began with a personal best in the Brooklyn Half-Marathon. In New York, there were some concerts and shows, some excellent hikes up the Hudson River. A trip to the Bay Area to hang out in Monterey and run the Bay to Breakers. And then a vacation in Montreal for the long weekend, the "Fred Reunion Tour of Montreal".

The "city bird" concept: if you listen closely on the streets of NYC, you can often hear one lone bird chirping away.

June
More fun trips: Six Flags park, Scarsdale to see my friend and her adorable kiddies, and the beaches of Sandy Hook. Torrential summer downpours struck early in the month, including one evening at the Death Cab for Cutie outdoor concert (drenched!). Then, a thick heat wave blanketed the city of New York later in the month. Toooo hot.

July
I escaped the July heat on the East Coast with a great trip home and then returned to NYC to host my cousins from Holland for a fun week.

August
Another nice summer month, during which I spend good times with friends and Joe and Lishia on their visit to the Big Apple, visited Anne-Marie and Ally, saw shows and the US Open.

September
The month started with a beautiful week in Nova Scotia, then a visit with my parents in NJ and, at the end of the month, the annual trip to East Hampton for a weekend with the gang.

October
Vice-presidential debates, Michelle and Wayne came for a great visit, we all went to Schneiderland, Madonna had a concert, and Halloween was full of crazy wigs.

November
The month began with the New York Marathon, watching not running. Autumn started to arrive, bringing the fall foliage. And for the Thanksgiving weekend, two friends from the West Coast arrived for a weekend of adventures.

December
My Mom arrived for a visit amidst the sparkling holiday month of December in NYC. I hosted a dinner party for the gang. I wrapped up a busy busy year at work. And after an epic 20 hour door-to-door journey, I made it from the East Coast back to the West Coast for a wintery, snowy holiday.
