Biography
eastcoastwestcoast is the journal of Jennifer, a 36-year-old Canadian living in the City of Gold after eight years in the Garden State and Big Apple.
In late 2010, I moved to a city with a view of the Arabian Gulf and Burj Khalifa, many time zones away from my previous hometowns. I had previously spent 5 years in a quaint little town with a view of the Empire State Building, and prior to that had spent time in Central NJ and Boston, where I cranked out a Ph.D. at belovedly nerdy MIT. And it all began in my hometown, born and raised on Canada’s West Coast with its sparkling harbour, snowfall on the mountains, fragrant cedar trees, and “City of Glass” downtown.
I still use this weblog to share my day-to-day life with family and friends whom I don't get to see every day, particularly now that I'm halfway around the world. And, as I've always said, in every new hometown including Dubai, I seek the little moments of enjoyment, exploring new neighbourhoods, cultivating a sense of adventure and nurturing an appreciation for the simple, random, beautiful moments in life. This journal is my way of keeping track of the little things that keep me going, no matter where I am in the world.
